Context

Security for video over IP platform

The thesis will be done at Silex site in Louvain-La-Neuve. Silex is a specialist in embedded system development (ASIC/FPGA/board/SW), in video and security applications.
Viper is an embedded system to transport HDMI video/audio over IP networks:

In some application, the security for such system is critical.

Objective

The objective is to assess the security of the Viper system both on the hardware and software sides. Specifically the security levels of the embedded system (Linux, uboot,...) and the communication links need to be evaluated and improved. The student will have to understand the general video over IP concept, the security challenges. He will implement the required features to build a highly secured embedded system.
