Context

The thesis will be done at Silex Inside site in Louvain-La-Neuve. Silex Inside is a specialist in SoC development (ASIC/FPGA), cryptographic engines and video processing. Security platform including HW and SW has been developed able to be used in different applications (Securing the device, communication, contents...).

Objective

The objective is to implement security protocols as EPID (specific digital signature scheme), Butterfly key expansion (used in Car2x communication) or SM9 in software using a hardware security module developed by Silex Inside. The HSM is emulated on a SoC FPGA. The student will have to understand embedded security concept (digital signatures, key storage...) and define an implementation strategy with the internal team. The focus will be put on code size and performances. The SW will be developed in C on small micro-controller (type Cortex M0/M3 from ARM). Models can be generated using scripting languages like Tcl or Python.
