The ZigBee protocol has been emerging in the past few years and has become one of the most popular communication protocols for domestic electric loads. It is likely to be to most suitable protocol to communicate with smart loads controlled by a scheduling unit.

The aims of this master thesis are;

  • To establish the state of the art of the protocols to communicate with smart domestic loads and establish the most suited protocol.
  • To design and implement a household-sized network using the right protocol to be used as a test bench

*HEMS stands for Home Energy Management System. Topics related to HEMS will be presented on April 30th during lunch time (12:15-13:15) at the building L1 (in front of the RED lab).
